Something specific to recommend when parents ask for fluoride-free.
A 10% nano-hydroxyapatite toothpaste in Vanilla Mint for grown-ups and Strawberry for kids. Patients order from your practice's own page and we ship to them. Your practice earns on their orders, with no inventory.
A fluoride-free formula families can understand.
Both flavors are formulated with 10% nano-hydroxyapatite, the main mineral in tooth enamel in very fine particles. Hydrated silica and calcium carbonate help remove surface stains; an amino-acid-based cleanser gives soft foam without SLS. Vanilla Mint has a cooling finish. Strawberry offers a sweet, fruity taste and lighter texture. Published research and its limits are set out below.
What to discuss with a family
- Enamel
- About 97% of enamel by weight is mineral, mostly hydroxyapatite. Chen L et al., Materials, 2021
- History
- Approved for toothpaste in Japan in 1993, on sale in Europe from 2006 and in Canada from 2015. In the U.S. it is sold as a cosmetic toothpaste ingredient. O'Hagan-Wong K et al., Odontology, 2022
- Flavor
- Vanilla Mint includes peppermint, spearmint and wintergreen oils. Strawberry’s flavor blend has not been verified mint-free.
- Daily use
- Flavor and soft foam may matter to a family’s preference. Keep brushing guidance appropriate to the patient; the formula is not a replacement for individualized fluoride advice.
- Lactobacillus Ferment
- The ingredient list names a ferment. It does not establish live strains, a viable-cell dose or a microbiome outcome for this paste.
The evidence on 10% hydroxyapatite
Two randomized, double-blind trials compared a 10% hydroxyapatite toothpaste with a fluoride toothpaste. Both tested another maker's paste, not Tooth Wizard.
Children 3 to 7, about one year
Share whose early enamel lesions increased (ICDAS code 1 or higher). Lower is better. 177 per protocol (207 ITT; 202 completed the final visit).
Paszynska E et al. Sci Rep 2021;11:2650. doiAdults 18 to 45, eighteen months
Share with no increase in decayed, missing or filled surfaces. Higher is better. 171 per protocol (189 ITT).
Paszynska E et al. Front Public Health 2023;11:1199728. doi- Neither trial tested Tooth Wizard.
- Both tested 10% hydroxyapatite: microcrystalline in the children’s trial, while the adult trial’s methods do not establish particle size. Both were designed to test non-inferiority to fluoride.
- Children: comparator elmex Kinder, 500 ppm amine fluoride; both groups brushed three times daily for 3 minutes (parent-brushed with a powered brush morning and evening, self-brushed manual at noon); 336 days; new or progressing ICDAS 1+ lesions on assessed primary molars.
- Adults: comparator an otherwise comparable paste with 1,450 ppm sodium fluoride; twice daily for 3 minutes with a powered brush; 18 months; no increase in DMFS.
- Both: non-inferiority margin 20 percentage points. One-sided upper 95% limits 9.5% (children, results table; the abstract states 9.8%) and 6.84% (adults, PP). Superiority was not shown.
- Both trials were funded by a hydroxyapatite toothpaste maker. Three authors of the adult trial worked for it.
- We make no anti-caries claim, and your fluoride guidance stands.
