Let them try, then help finish
Give your child a turn while you stay involved. Watch whether they reach the back teeth and every tooth surface, rather than judging by how long they hold the brush.
Ask for a demonstration
At the next visit, ask the dentist or hygienist to watch your child brush and show you where to help.
Keep an eye on the amount
Supervise toothpaste dispensing and spitting too. Use the amount the tube directs and keep the tube out of reach after use.
